Why did I choose to build a GMRS repeater?
Two big reasons I chose to go with GMRS

  1. To use GMRS, all you have to do is purchase a GMRS license from the FCC. There are not a lot of limits on using GMRS, you have to have one license and your family and friends can operate under that license (Each individual does not have to have a license)
  2. You can use up to a 50 watt repeater on any of the GMRS frequencies

The alternatives I considered were getting a MURS license (expensive) or all of my friends and buddies getting a HAM license.
